Bambu P1S - 2
Start a print on this machine using Bambu Studio over Wi-Fi.
Guide me through this print, one step at a time
Use the saved Makerspace profile. Machine menus vary with installed firmware; ask the lab steward when the controls differ from this guide.
Check this machine
Match the physical label to Bambu P1S - 2. Check printer status and make sure nobody else is using it. Clear old prints and loose filament; never interrupt another job. Label your job with your name and contact details.
Prepare the build surface
Check that the build plate is correctly seated and clear of old prints. Clean it using the approved method for that surface. Keep fingers off the printing area. Do not force the carriage, belts, or bed.
Load and confirm filament
Use the lab-approved Bambu filament. For the AMS, place the spool so it turns freely and feed the filament into an available inlet until the feeder takes it. Confirm the material and color in Bambu Studio. For an external spool, use the printer's guided Load workflow. Do not force filament or use flexible material in the AMS unless explicitly approved.
Open Bambu Studio and select the printer
Use the lab's saved profile for Bambu P1S - 2, including the installed nozzle and build surface. Select the matching Wi-Fi device, not just another printer of the same model. Do not assume a downloaded 3MF has the right machine settings; recheck them after opening it.
Import and prepare the model
Import your STL or 3MF. Check dimensions and place a stable face on the build surface. Select the actual loaded material. Start with the approved default quality profile; add supports for unsupported regions and a brim when appropriate. Keep the model within the printable area.
Slice and inspect the preview
Slice the plate and inspect the first layer, supports, floating islands, time estimate, and filament use. Look for a continuous base and no features beginning in empty space. Correct problems before sending.
Send over Wi-Fi
Use Print Plate in Bambu Studio. Select this exact P1S and check that each selected filament maps to the correct loaded AMS slot or external spool. Review the print options and send the job. Stay by the machine as it prepares.
Start and stay for the first layer
Sending a file does not always start it. Confirm the correct filename in the Bambu Studio Device view or printer controls, then start it if needed. Watch heating, homing, and the first layer. Lines should adhere evenly without being dragged around. Stop the job if the part detaches, the nozzle scrapes, or material accumulates around the nozzle. Use the troubleshooting guide before retrying.
Finish and leave it ready
Wait for the part and build surface to cool. Remove the print gently using the approved method, clear supports and scraps, and store filament as required. Do not pry hard or change shared calibration to remove a part. Report faults so the next user knows about them.
